Foodie

I was recently commissioned to create a piece for the brand spankin new Whole Foods located in one of my favorite Houston neighborhoods.

When I learned of the commission, I was extremely excited,

"You want a 3 feet by 3 feet original painting on wood panel and the design* is entirely up to me?!"

But in true neurotic Lisa form, the excitement quickly wormed its way into nervous nail biting,

"You want a 3 feet by 3 feet** original painting on wood panel*** and the design is entirely up to me****?!"

In progress preview

However, I finished and safely delivered my baby to her new home last week. I haven't seen where Whole Foods decided to display my piece (I can only hope it is not in the bathroom), so why don't you join me at the Artist Reception this Friday and we'll all learn where together?

Artist Reception this Friday, June 24 from 5:30pm-7:30pm at the new Whole Foods Market in Montrose.

701 Waugh Drive
Houston, Texas 77019

*Their simple request was to create something that represented what the Houston Heights/Montrose area meant to me.
**By far, the largest painting I have ever done.
***I am most comfortable working on wood's distant cousin, paper. BUT, this commission has revealed a new found love of working on wood. Look forward to wood paintings in the near future.
****That's a bit o' pressure. I tried several versions before I settled on the final image that felt true to my style, true to what Heights/Montrose represents and true to Whole Foods.
